Details of the home as you prepare for your stay
Details to remember as you prepare your trip to a "Slice of Leelanau"
- A Slice of Leelanau has a full kitchen with an eat in table for 4, for your family to cook in if need be. If you have any questions about the kitchen and what it does or does not have, please feel free to reach out. If this helps you better plan for your trip I would love to help you.
- Count on the major things being there. The home has plates, cups, silverware, knives, and plastic (washable) plates and cups if you are traveling with children. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, and keurig coffee maker. Please plan on bringing your own pods if you plan to make coffee at home. The kitchen does have a colander. There is a green piece that you put into the bottom hole to be able to safely set the colander in the sink to wash or drain things. Feel free to reach out if you have questions on this.
- The refrigerator and stove are full sized. The dishwasher is what I would call an extra cute "RV sized" dishwasher. It does not hold tons but serves it's purpose.
- Off of the kitchen, is a doorway, where you go down a few steps into a utility room. The utility room holds the washer and dryer. This room is not "fancy" but we consider having access to laundry a bonus when you are on vacation. Hopefully you won't be needing to do tons of laundry since you are on vacation! However we know things come up and it is there if you need it. Please bring your own laundry detergent if you do plan on doing wash! If you are there during colder weather the door to the utility room must be open if heat is going.
- Upstairs in the hallway is a light that is on a motion sensor. This is an added safety precaution if anybody needs to get up at night to use the restroom. Please take note that this home has steep stairs leading up to the second floor.
- Please keep in mind that this home is over 100 years old. It has a lot of charm. With that charm comes imperfections of time. For example, there might be places where the wood flooring upstairs has imperfections (such as bumps or discolorations).
- If you are staying in the house on a Monday please do not be alarmed a neighbor (Abigail) will be pulling the trash from the side of the house and putting it out for garbage collection. It is the renters responsibility to carry trash from inside of the house to the garbage can on the side of the home both during the stay and when closing.
- The lawn also gets cut during summer/early fall. If you see the lawn being cared for while you are there the gentleman that cuts it is named Jason.
- This home has heating if you are staying in the fall. Please note that being a 100 year old home we feel that the home does not heat evenly. The first floor tends to run warmer than the second floor. If you are staying during the summer please take note that the home does not have air conditioning (as stated in the airbnb/vrbo ads) as many homes don't in this area. The summer season tends to be more moderate than temperatures in major cities. Each bedroom has a box fan if you would like to use it on a warmer evening!
- If at anytime, you have any questions about the area or the property or concerns, please do not hesitate to call. We will do our best to respond immediately. We value you and that you chose to be our guests during your time in Leelanau County. We want to make sure that you are very satisfied. We appreciate you reaching out and giving us a chance to problem solve if need be. Prior to arrival you will be given two cell phone numbers. You can call or text to either number at anytime or reach out via the airbnb or vrbo messages.
- Thank you for completing the closing checklist upon leaving and respecting the checkout time!
- Please make sure that both the door leading into the house from the porch and the laundry room door that leads outside are closed and locked upon leaving.
